Wrath

Perhaps the people have caged their souls
And live behind stones
So that all is darkness.
And they would cover the word justice with cloth
As though it were a window
That lets in too much light.
And they would cloak the land too
If we slept any longer in our cave.
And how would we feel when we awoke
And found ourselves burried?
Would there be enough storm inside of us
To bleach the hidden wasteland?
And would that be justice?
Would our wrath be innocent and resonant?
Or guilty and suppressed?
Perhaps the people cover their hearts with stone
For a lifetime,
And feel nothing of injustice
Until the final days.

Whose wrath do you fear?
