Envy

The conflict between East and West
Lives, like a dream,
In all that is desired,
But now lost,
Or will be lost;
In the fever of our times;
The high pitch of luxury and despair;
The high tremor that runs through
Blasing the olive groves at the root;
The earth-shattering wall that divides heart from land;
But is for land and its exasperated potential;
Is for sky-scrapers and dark machinery.
It is all for dreams unmerciful and penetrating
That seek to claim, seek to claim,
The beauty of another people and their place
The conflict between East and West
Rises and sets for a fearful eternity
And what is between might be life,
Or something else inside of us
Asking for freedom

Those chained and suffering envy those who live freely
